For over 25 years, Oklahoma
Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
has recognized the most notable community members,
organizations and philanthropists each year during their
observance of the National Philanthropy Day. AFP announced
that the National Philanthropy Day Oklahoma selection
committee has selected the Masonic Charity Foundation of
Oklahoma to be honored as this year's recipient of
the

“This is a very good day
in the history of Northwestern,” Dr. Aaron Mason said this
week as he opened the special ceremony officially accepting
the $100,000 endowment from the Masonic Charities Foundation
of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation has
an international reputation for cutting-edge research and the
development of new drugs and treatments for many serious medical
conditions. Now, with help from the Oklahoma Freemasons, the
Foundation will carry on the battle against Alzheimer’s Disease in a
state-of-the-art laboratory facility.

John
Shea, director of Aging Services for COEDD, accepts an Aging
Innovations Award for the Masonic Assistance Program for
Seniors. The award, sponsored by Critical Signal
Technologies and presented by the National Association of
Area Agencies on Aging, was one of only 16 awarded
nationwide.

The Masons of Oklahoma, through their
Masonic Charity Foundation, gifted $500,000 for an endowed
faculty chair at the state’s university to be administered
through the Department of Arts and Sciences.

Hydro Lodge No. 230 and Western Star Lodge No. 138
jointly sponsored a fundraiser in Honor of Hydro Fire Chief Noland
Schmidt who lost his life last March fighting a fire at the Hydro
Coop Elevator.

After
little Porter Boyles was born on July 6, medical professionals at
Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City soon discovered the presence of
several major congenital problems within the tiny 6-pound, 12-ounce
body.
The child’s heart was found to be on the right side rather than the
left, and both of his lungs were crowded into the left side of his
chest cavity.

Mustang Lodge in Mustang, Oklahoma
held a fund raiser jointly with the local Girl Scouts to be
used for a Spring 2010 Father / Daughter Camp Out.

Tecumseh Lodge assisted the Tecumseh
Youth Sports Program with funding to help youngsters learn
the value of teamwork and sportsmanship.

|
Ramona Lodge No. 326 sponsored a Benefit
Auction and Lunch on July 19, 2009. The proceeds were
used to assist a local woman who is battling cancer.
Gerogia McLain is a loved and respected long time resident
of the Ramona and Ochelata communities in Northeastern
Oklahoma. She has been suffering with a brain tumor
and recent surgery has left her family devastated
financially.

Ketchum's Bobby Pederson found out when you
ask, you shall receive from the Vinita Masonic Lodge #5.
After the 52-year-old Pederson of Ketchum asked his
friend John Spurgeon if there was any way they could help
out with purchasing a wheelchair carrier, Spurgeon took the
question back to his fellow lodge members, who agreed to
purchase the carrier for Pederson.

This small southern Oklahoma Lodge with 39
members has been extremely active in their community and surrounding
area during the first six months of 2009.
 |

Mermbers of Talihina Lodge No. 73
presented Personalized Books to the students in the Kindergarten
class at Whitesboro Public Schools. Additionally, they
presented similar books to the classes at Buffalo Valley Schools,
Albion Schools and Talihina Public Schools.

A cooperative effort between
Britton Lodge, the Charity Foundation, and the Area Agency
on Aging help a Brother in Edmond update
the home where they have lived
for more than 35 years to meet the needs of his family's
physical limitations.
