The Masonic Charity Foundation received a substantial bequest from the estate of Edgar M. Woody, with the stipulation that the earnings from the bequest are to be used to benefit senior citizens.
In 2011, in compliance with the terms of the bequest, the Foundation donated $750,063.61 to the Oklahoma Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
The Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma has partnered with Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) across the state with funding to assist persons 55 years of age and older with direct services. The donation was allocated between the eleven AAA’s that cover the entire state.
The AAA’s have an in-depth working knowledge of current government programs that are available to the elderly in Oklahoma, as well as where gaps or non-covered needs among Oklahoma’s older citizens exist.
This funding enables AAA’s to assist many callers with resources that previously were not available. Some of the services that are offered are: home repairs, wheel chair ramp construction, transportation, utility assistance, chore services, emergency medication and durable medical equipment.
All grants are made in the name of the Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma.
We are happy to carry out the good work envisioned by Brother Woody.
