OETA
OETA Programming Underwritten by The
Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma
 |
For some years now, the Lodges in
Oklahoma have sponsored the finest television to be seen on
Public Television in our state. The Lodges raise funds,
ideally by holding a public fund-raiser, and then send those
funds to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma. The
Foundation matches the funds and accumulates them, making
note of the total contribution of each Lodge.
|
"Masons Night"
On “Masons Night”, the last Saturday night
of the spring OETA Festival, members of the fraternity man the
telephones and take pledges. The Grand Master is interviewed on
camera, and the names of the Lodges and amount of their contribution
“crawl” across the bottoms of television sets across the state.
|
The publicity of Masons Night is good, of
course, but the real benefit comes six times each week when the
programs we sponsor are preceded and followed by an announcement,
complete with animation, that the program was made possible by the
Masonic Fraternity in Oklahoma.
Our involvement serves two functions. It
not only draws attention to the fraternity, but it make it possible
for Oklahoma families to see such programming as Nature, National
Geographic programming, The Antiques Roadshow and other fine
educational programs. In 2009, the total contribution to OETA from
the Masonic Fraternity was $42,068.74. There were 147 Lodges
involved in raising funds for Educational Television during the
year. |
