The Masonic essay contest is open to all Seniors in Oklahoma public schools. Statewide prizes range from $2,000 for 1st place boy and girl through $100 for 10th place boy and girl. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place local division winners from each participating school are awarded certificates.
Information for the contest is mailed to all Oklahoma Lodges in August, prior to the start of school. The 2011 deadline for essays to be received by the Masonic Charity Foundation is October 31, 2011.
The essays are professionally graded in December and January, with final results of the essay contest being sent to each participating Lodge in mid to late January. All certificates and cash prizes are mailed to each participating Lodge in the Spring for presentation by the Lodge, usually at an Awards Assembly.

During the 2011-2012 school year there were 2,313 essays received from 118 Lodges across Oklahoma.
