Partners In Prevention (PBO)

2011 marks the 25th year of partnership between Prevent Blindness Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Masons. Numbers on a spreadsheet cannot possibly do justice to the impact the Oklahoma Masons has had on the State of Oklahoma. The countless hours and dollars the Masons contribute has helped and will continue to help Prevent Blindness Oklahoma in our mission to preserve the eyesight and prevent the blindness of every Oklahoman.

The Charity Foundation helps with funds—we have provided more than $2,750,000.00 since the beginning of the partnership. Lodges provide manpower, they help with vision screenings, traffic control, and by providing whatever the screeners may need. Prevent Blindness provides the screeners.

As seen below, the numbers are staggering. In 2010-2011 school year, the total number of children screened was 278,698. The total number of children referred, with the assistance of the Masons was 32,090. That’s a lot of children who’s eyesight was preserved with the help of Oklahoma Masons. Outstanding! We are fortunate enough to receive countless letters and phone calls of gratitude from children, parents, teachers and school administrators thanking us for the service we provide in all 77 counties of the state.
