Teacher of Today

History echoes with the names of great teachers--Thoth, Hermes, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Duns Scotus, Sidhartha, Mann--and so many others. These men and women have made the greatest contribution to the world anyone can make; they have ensured the future. We have only to look at the products of technology which make our lives easier, the advances in medicine which make our lives longer, or the advances in the arts which make our lives worth living, to realize the importance of teachers. Without great teachers to prepare the scientists, doctors, inventors and thinkers of the next generation, civilization falls.

Freemasonry in Oklahoma uses the Teacher of Today program to say "thanks" to those hundreds of teachers across our state who make a daily difference in the lives of our children. Certificates are sent to the Lodges for presentation to the outstanding teachers in their area. This, in addition to our support of the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year program helps to insure that teachers know others recognize and appreciate their efforts. It is little enough to express our appreciation to these men and women who carry the burden of the future on their shoulders.

In 2008, the Foundation prepared 832 Teacher of Today certificates for presentation by 179 participating Lodges.
